Today’s recipe is a bit different from the norm for Eat a Byte as it is not a recipe from a video game or any other fictional work. I decided that I wanted to incorporate regular (recipes NOT based off of fictional works such as video games, tv shows, books etc) recipes into Eat a Byte to add some variety. This is going to be the first of many regular recipes that I add to the website. I have lots of ideas for others!
I’ve been on a bit smoothie kick lately as I have been trying to make healthier breakfast choices. Smoothies are quick, healthy, and easy. The chocolate raspberry smoothie recipe for today fits all of those criteria perfectly. It’s low in sugar, takes only a few minutes to make, and all you need to do is toss the ingredients into a blender and blend for about a minute.
If you wish, you could add protein powder to this recipe if you are looking for a smoothie to keep you full longer. Usually when I use protein powder in my smoothies I use Plant Fusion Vanilla Protein Powder. It doesn’t have an overly chalky taste and is soy free and vegan. A vanilla or chocolate flavored (or even unflavored) whey protein powder would work just fine as well if you don’t want to used plant-based protein.
I was inspired to make a chocolate raspberry smoothie after redoing my Guild Wars 2 Chocolate Raspberry Cake post. I thought that it’d be fun to make a healthier version of that recipe for breakfast. Initially I had thought about making muffins, but then decided a smoothie would ultimately be healthier. Thus this recipe was born.
This recipe is for an individual serving using a single-serve blender attachment (I have a Ninja, so I used the individual size blender that came with it). You could easily double, triple, quadruple etc the recipe if you are making it for multiple people.
